Total Digestive Enzymes
Total Digestive Enzymes provides every enzyme needed to digestion, making sure that you food you eat is properly used, instead of just stored. It also contains five strains of beneficial Probiotics or Flora (good bacteria), to aid in maintaining the mucosa lining in your digestive system.
What are enzymes?
Catalysts that are responsible for breaking down food so its nutrients can be absorbed and used by body. Digestion is a fine-tuned, complicated process that allows you to utilize nutrients from the food you eat. Several organs and accessory organs release enzymes that aid in the digestive process. When you eat a meal rich in all of the macronutrients -- carbohydrates, proteins and fats – the digestive enzymes work together to break them down into particles that are small enough for the body to absorb.

- Lipase = fats (fats, oils, sweets)
- Lactase = dairy
- Amylase = sugar (vegetables and fruit)
- Protease = protein (meats, nuts, cheese, beans)
- Cellulase = grains, starches, and seeds
Where do we get enzymes?
Raw foods have naturally occurring enzymes to digest and break them down. Ex: leave an apple or avocado out and it will turn brown because its natural enzymes will start breaking it down
Once your foods are cooked (over 118°) or processed, the enzymes are destroyed and the food enters your body as a “dead” food. Ex: leave a French fry or cooked food out and it will not change in appearance because it has no enzymes left in it (McDonald’s hamburgers look the same if left out for years). “Dead” foods cannot be broken down and used as nutrients unless enzymes can be found somewhere else in the body – stomach will call on the pancreas to aid in digestion.
Cooked fats have no enzymes so they will go into the blood and cannot be digested. If not processed in a few hours, the fats will stick to the body. (ex: love handles, arm fat, etc.)
Cooked or processed sugars will also stay in the blood and cause platelets to be stuck together and form clots. (ex: plaque buildup in arteries, high cholesterol level, high blood pressure)
Taking digestive enzymes will allow you to not use the enzymes that are stored in your pancreas – which will prolong the life of your enzyme stock and help reduce your risk of developing digestive disorders, diabetes, etc.
